About the app

This is an app for cats to play with. Koi swim across the water on their own; tap one and it bolts away.

The usual trouble with putting a video on for a cat is that paws land on the screen and pause it, close it, or skip to something else. There are no video controls here to hit by accident.

Save this link to your tablet and open it as a web app from the Home Screen icon: then the only way out is a swipe up from the bottom, which is a good deal less likely to happen by accident.

Press and hold the lock button to hide the controls and let them play. Hold it again to bring the controls back.

Put Cat Pond on the Home Screen

Safari on iPad keeps its address bar on screen no matter what a page asks for. Opening Cat Pond from a Home Screen icon instead gives you the whole display, with no browser anywhere.

1. Tap the Share button in Safari's toolbar — the square with an arrow pointing up, at the top of the screen next to the address bar.
2. Scroll the share sheet down and tap Add to Home Screen. If you can't see it, tap Edit Actions at the bottom and turn it on.
3. Leave the name as Cat Pond and tap Add, top right.
4. Leave Safari and open Cat Pond from its new icon. That's the copy to use from now on.
