Site rules

We keep things friendly and informal at Royate Hill. There are just a few things we ask of everyone to keep the site working well for all of us, our neighbours and the wildlife we share it with.

• Sign your plot. We're very informal, but the site rep does ask that you make an effort to put a sign or number on your plot so it can be found. Blank MDF plot numbers are in the round house if you'd like some to paint up.
• Keep your plot worked. Have a go at cultivating your plot through the season. If life gets in the way or you're away for a while, let the site rep know rather than letting it run wild.
• Look after the paths. Keep the path beside your plot trimmed and clear so people and wheelbarrows can get past. Don't let crops or weeds spill across, and don't block paths with materials.
• Lend a hand in the yard. The yard is a shared space with no maintenance crew, so a little goes a long way: chop back brambles, keep bindweed out of the compost, sweep up loose mud, and put tools and wheelbarrows back where they belong.
• Water wisely. Hand water where you can, and never leave a hose or sprinkler running unattended.
• Be a good neighbour. Keep noise down, dogs under control, and clear up after yourself and any visitors.
• Keep the site secure. Close and lock the gates behind you.
• Take your rubbish away. No dumping or fly-tipping; take waste home or to where it belongs.
