A friendly community growing site in Eastville & Greenbank plots, fruit trees and good company, looked after by the people who grow here.
Royate Hill Allotments is a community growing site cared for by its plotholders, sitting alongside the community orchard. We grow fruit and veg, swap seeds and produce, keep the site in good order together, and run the odd open day and work party through the year.
Whether you're a current plotholder, on the waiting list, or just curious everyone's welcome. There's often homemade apple juice for sale to support the site.
Free to all, fair use. If the pile is getting low, please give Sarah a shout on the WhatsApp group.
£2 a load. Please pay using the QR code on the board.
Full of useful bits to help yourself to: timber, bamboo canes, flagstones and tent poles for shoring up plots.
Communal wheelbarrows are free to borrow from the orchard. Please put them back by the orchard gate when you're done so the next person can find them.
There's a compost loo on the community orchard for when nature calls. Built almost entirely from recycled materials. Please leave it as you'd like to find it.
At the back of the yard, for kit that needs more security. Keys are available to all tenants on request from the site rep, and everything is stored at your own risk. Part of the lockup is shared with the Royate Hill Nature Reserve group, so please don't borrow their tools; they're marked and usually kept to the left.
Plots are allocated through Bristol City Council. Apply online to join the waiting list they'll explain how it works and what happens next.
On the waiting list? One way to get growing sooner is to support a current plotholder. We run a partnering sign-up that pairs people who are temporarily unable to keep on top of their plots with others happy to lend a hand — a chance to try plotholding before a plot of your own comes up.

A new compost loo is up and running built almost entirely from recycled and found materials, for just £37.65.
